Kulturhuset without music would be like a fish out of water.
Day and night, you can expect to be met with great music over our three floors; either in the form of DJ’s spinning hand picked tunes, or through the 200+ concerts we arrange over every calendar year.
On the weekends our dance floors are bouncing as the Boksen morphs into a club venue where you can expect nu-disco and eclectic house beats. Meanwhile, Hovedrommet is the place to hang out with your friends and soak up some quality music from a range of genres. It’s worth remembering that when you’re at Kulturhuset, we can’t rule out the occasional surprise when it comes to our music!
Below, you’ll find a brief description of a few of our year round regulars:
Together with Norway’s Musikkhøgskole, we arrange a vibrant jazz & classical concert on Mondays which is, as ever, free for our guests.
Kulturhuset is a venue for discovering and experimenting with new sounds. We pursue this by curating the concert series ‘Free Fall’ which takes place every other Saturday.
On the first Tuesday of every month our main stage is taken over by Big Band Jazz, while the dance floor is set alight by the members of Bårdar Swing Club alongside anyone else who’s interested! It’s free and open for everybody.
The concept, ‘Soup & Bread’ takes place on the second Sunday of every month. This donation based concert series allows well known artists to invite you to enjoy great soup, while listening to an even better concert in the knowledge that all proceeds go directly to a charity of the artist’s choosing. Since its inception, Soup & Bread has managed to collect over half a million for good causes!
At Kulturhuset, we do of course also book single concerts. However, first and foremost we try to be an arena for new musical expression, the niche genres and concert experiences where the music interacts with other artistic mediums and cultural expressions.
